Privacy

The short version: by default, what your family says stays on your iPhone. An adult can choose to turn on private Family access to back up those memories and share them with specific invited adults. Powwow has no advertising SDK and does not use family answers for advertising, analytics, AI training, or marketing.

What the app stores

Powwow stores the following information in a local database on your iPhone:

• Each person's first name, and a birth month and year for the children
• A photo, if you choose to add one for somebody
• Your reminder time and Bible translation
• The nights you marked complete
• The answers you chose to save and who said them
• A voice recording of an answer, if you chose to record one

The current beta includes all 90 days of questions inside the app. The nightly ritual and local reminders do not need a Powwow account or content connection.

Optional Family access

Family access is off unless a signed-in adult deliberately enables it and confirms they are authorized to store and share the household's content. When it is on, Powwow stores a private server copy of first names, children's birth month and year, family settings, completed questions, saved text answers, and voice recordings. Photos are not uploaded.

The household owner can invite an adult as a co-owner or viewer. A co-owner can use Powwow, save answers, and manage the people in that Powwow, but cannot manage account access. A viewer can only read saved answers and play recordings. Only the household owner can invite, change, or remove account access. Invites are bound to the adult email address they were sent to, expire after seven days, and work once.

Invited adults sign in by email. We use Supabase to provide authentication, the private database, and private recording storage. Data is sent over an encrypted connection. Nothing is public, but an invited adult can still copy or record information they are allowed to see. Removing their access prevents future access; it cannot retrieve a copy they already made.

What leaves the app when Family access is off

Powwow does not send family names, photos, voice recordings, settings, completion history, or saved answers to us when Family access is off. It never sends your family's words or voices to AI, and nothing is generated while your family uses the app.

If you tap Export everything, Powwow creates a file on your phone and opens the iOS share sheet. The file goes only to the person or service you choose there.

Beta builds are distributed through Apple TestFlight. Apple may collect installation, session, crash, and feedback information under Apple's own terms and may show some of that technical information to us. Powwow does not receive your saved family answers through TestFlight.

The beta website

The beta form is provided by Beehiiv. When you submit it, Beehiiv stores your email address on the Powwow mailing list so we can send beta access, installation instructions, and closely related Powwow updates. Beehiiv may also process ordinary form and email-delivery information under its privacy policy.

You can unsubscribe from any Powwow email or ask us to delete your address. The mailing list never receives names, ages, completion history, or answers stored inside the app.

The website runs on Vercel. Vercel may process ordinary request information such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp to deliver and protect the site. We do not add advertising or behavioral-analytics cookies.

Voice recordings

When you tap record in Save the answers, Powwow records only while you have it running and stops when you tap stop or after two minutes, whichever comes first. The microphone is never open at any other time.

The recording is first saved into Powwow's own storage on this iPhone. If Family access is off, it stays there. If an adult enables Family access, saved recordings are uploaded to the household's private storage so invited adults with access can play them. Powwow does not transcribe recordings or send them to a speech-recognition or AI service.

Export everything does not yet include audio files. Deleting a local answer removes its copy from that phone and, when Family access is enabled, queues the same deletion for the shared household.

Photos

You can add a photo for anyone in your family. It is copied into Powwow's own storage on this iPhone and shown next to their name. It is never uploaded, never sent to us, and never included in anything the app transmits. Removing the photo, removing the person, or using Delete everything deletes the file.

Children

Powwow is an adult-led family app. It does not create child accounts or ask a child to send information to us, manage access, or share an answer. An adult chooses whether to save a child's words or voice and whether to enable Family access for that household. Adults should never put a child's saved answer into a beta or support email.

Exporting and deleting

Settings includes Export everything and Delete everything. Deleting removes the selected local app database, every photo you added, and every local voice recording you kept. If Family access is enabled, the household owner can also delete the shared household. Removing access does not delete another adult's separate Powwow. Export first if you want a copy of your text answers; export does not yet carry audio.

Changes to this policy

We will update the date at the top when this policy changes. A change to app data handling will also be reflected in the app and its App Store privacy information before release.
